Rajkot: A 32-year-old man accused of raping a minor was hacked to death by the victim's father in Rajkot on August 19.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Thursday night on Sant Kabir Road, meanwhile, police have arrested the father of a child rapist and his friend Dinesh for allegedly killing Vijay Mer, a resident of Kanak Nagar in Rajkot.

Mer was out on bail, police said.

According to reports, Mer's brother Ashwin Mer has filed murder charges against the rape victim's father and his accomplice Dinesh Rangpara.

According to police, the accused fled with his minor daughter in May 2020. The girl's father then filed a missing person's complaint against her under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCO) Law.

Later, the girl's father filed a habeas corpus petition in the Gujarat High Court, after which the police identified the minors and Merk, who live in Manavadar town of Junagarh, and brought them back in March 2021.

Mer was arrested and charged with raping a minor. He has been in jail ever since.

Police said May was released on bail a few weeks ago. "Whenever he is released on bail, he will call the girl's father and threaten to run away with his daughter again.

The girl's father promised not to cut her hair until he kills Mer. So, he enlists the help of his friend Dinesh and kills Mer on Thursday night." They attacked his home with a sharp weapon, "police said. CCTV footage showed the suspect attacking Merk while she was sitting near his home. The suspects hacked Mer to death. Police said they found more than a dozen wounds on Mer's body.

Both the accused are in police custody and are being questioned.
