UTTAR PRADESH: India is likely to witness the first-ever execution of a female prisoner, Shabnam who is on death row for committing the heinous crime of murdering seven members of her family in Amroha, Uttar Pradesh.

As per multiple media reports, Shabnam is one of the two convicts in the sensational Amroha murder case, who will be executed in the lone female execution room in Mathura.

Reportedly, it was in April 2008, when Shabnam along with her lover Salim brutally murdered seven members of her family with an axe.

The jail authorities informed that the date of hanging has not been fixed yet, but the preparation for the same has been initiated.

Reportedly, Shabnam will be hanged as soon as the death warrant is issued. According to reports, Pawan Jallad of Meerut, who hanged Nirbhaya's accused, has also inspected the hanging house twice and asked to make some improvements.

Who is Shabnam Ali?

Shabnam, the only daughter of Shaukat Ali, a teacher in village Bawankhedi in Hasanpur area of ​​Amroha district, who had a love affair with Salim. Shabnam of the Sufi family did her double MA in English and Geography.

Her family owned a lot of lands. At the same time, Salim was a fifth standard failure and was a labourer by profession. Therefore, family members protested about their relationship.

After committing the murder, Shabnam started crying and screaming. When people nearby arrived, they were stunned to see seven dead bodies covered in blood.

Meanwhile, Shabnam told the police that the robbers entered her house and killed the entire family, however, she survived as she was in the bathroom.

After the postmortem report, the suspicion of the police turned on Shabnam and this is when call details of Shabnam were taken out, which showed that on the night of the murder, Shabnam spoke several times on the same number.

After this, the police started a strict interrogation of Shabnam. Shabnam finally breaks down and confesses her crime.

150 years ago, the state's only woman hanging house was built

The first female hanging house was built in Mathura jail almost 150 years ago, however, no woman was hanged since India attained Independence. It was built during British rule inside the Mathura Jail. The only mention of this execution room in India can be found in the UP Jail Manual, 1956, which lays out elaborate rules for the execution of women convicts on death row.
