
MUMBAI: Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has expressed excitement about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's WAVES Summit 2025, an initiative aimed at establishing India as a global hub for content creation.
Announced during the Prime Minister's Mann Ki Baat radio address on December 29, 2024, the World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) will take place in India from February 5 to February 9, marking its first-ever hosting in the country.
PM Modi highlighted the summit’s significance in fostering creativity and positioning India as a global leader in the entertainment industry. Sharing a video of the announcement on his X handle, the Prime Minister emphasized the initiative as a major step towards making India a central force in global content creation.
Shah Rukh Khan re-shared the video on December 30, expressing his enthusiasm for the event. “It is with great anticipation that I look forward to WAVES – a film and entertainment world summit – to be held in our country,” the 59-year-old actor wrote.
He described the summit as a platform that celebrates India’s entertainment industry, acknowledges its contribution to the economy, strengthens its soft power, and fosters creativity and added, "An occasion that celebrates our industry and acknowledges the role it plays in the Indian economy as well as its strength as a soft power… and above all, an occasion that champions and fosters creativity!!! @narendramodi ji."
Other notable figures from the industry, including Akshay Kumar, Anil Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, producers Ektaa Kapoor, and Ritesh Sidhwani, have also praised the initiative. The WAVES Summit is expected to bring together global creators, fostering collaboration and innovation within the entertainment sector.
