NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has granted YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia the permission to resume his podcast, "The Ranveer Show," under the condition that he adheres to standards of decency in his content. This decision follows Allahbadia's application to lift a previous order that prohibited him from airing his shows.

In his plea, Allahbadia pointed out the effect of the ban on his business, stating that he has 280 employees. The Supreme Court recognized the significance of fundamental rights but asserted that they are subject to some limitations. The court said, "As of now, petitioners were restrained from airing any shows. Subject to the petitioner furnishing an undertaking that his podcast shows will maintain the desired standards of morality and decency, the petitioner is permitted to resume the Ranveer Show.”

The controversy surrounding Allahbadia intensified after his appearance on the YouTube show "India's Got Latent," hosted by Samay Raina. His question to a contestant—"Would you rather watch your parents... or join in once and stop it forever?"—sparked widespread outrage and led to formal complaints against him and others involved in the episode.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta called the show "not vulgar, but perverse," pointing to the necessity of regulatory steps to ensure that content is in accordance with societal moral standards. The Supreme Court has asked the Centre to suggest steps balancing free speech with acceptable content guidelines, seeking public inputs before any legislative steps are initiated.
