

BHOPAL: In a devastating incident that took place in the early hours of Wednesday, two goods trains collided in the state of Madhya Pradesh. One loco driver is said to have perished in the incident while two more are said to have been injured.
According to reports, the two goods trains collided near the Singhpur Railway Station in the state of Madhya Pradesh. The incident is said to have taken place at around 6:30 AM on Wednesday and the engines of both trains are said to have caught fire as a result of the impact. The goods trains collided with each other 10 km before reaching Shahdol on the Bilaspur to Katni railway route.
Authorities with the South East Central Railway issued a bulletin regarding the incident. It mentioned the derailment of 09 wagons including the engine after the signal overshoot by a coal-loaded goods train at Singhpur station on Bilaspur-Katni section of the South East Central Railway on the morning of Wednesday. All rail operations on all three lines up, down and middle on this route were halted immediately after the incident.
Rescue operations were underway since the morning itself to ensure that the injured people can be relocated to medical facilities as well as to clear the tracks to ensure the movement of other trains on the route. The services of all trains on the Bilaspur-Katni route are said to have been affected because of the incident.
No details have been released regarding the possible cause of the accident and a detailed enquiry has been started to ascertain the reason for the incident. The Railways authorities have also issued the 1072 helpline for any information related to the incident. No information has been released from the authorities regarding the reopening of the tracks.
