Guwahati: Union Home Minister Amit Shah was admitted to News Delhi's All India Institute Of Medical Science (AIIMS) on Monday, August 17.

As per reports, Shah was admitted to hospital due to chest infection. His condition is said to be "stable."

Amit Shah had reportedly undergone a CT scan at a private hospital on Monday and the test results showed that he has some infection in his chest.

On the advice of doctors, Shah decided to admit himself to AIIMS. Shah is currently under the observation of AIIMS director Dr Randeep Guleria, who is a chest specialist.

It is expected that Shah would remain under observation for at least 24 hours at the AIIMS.

This comes days after Shah had tested negative for dreaded coronavirus. The home minister was diagnosed with COVID-19 on August 2 and was admitted to Gurugram's Medanta Hospital following the advice of doctors.

"My health is fine, but am being admitted to hospital on the advice of doctors. Requests all those who came in contact with me these last few days to self-isolate and get themselves tested," Amit Shah had said.

Almost 2 weeks later, Shah tweeted that he had recovered from the infectious disease. Taking to Twitter, Shah had later confirmed he was later tested negative for the novel coronavirus.

"Today my Coronavirus test report has come negative. I thank God and express my heartfelt gratitude to all those who blessed me and my family and prayed for my well being," Amit Shah wrote in the tweet.

He went on to say that he will stay in home isolation for a few more days on the advice of doctors.

In another tweet, the Home Minister thanked the doctors and staff of the Medanta hospital. "I express my gratitude to all the doctors and paramedical staff of the Medanta hospital who helped me fight off the coronavirus infection."
