UP cabinet minister creates controversy making government employee tie his shoelaces

Guwahati: The 5^th International Yoga Day seems to remain in news for some more time as apart from the cause and the good factors of the day, miscellaneous other things have also occurred which has let the yoga day not to go off the news. Right from the dog squads catching attention and then Rahul Gandhi mocking at the gesture, now another matter has turned heads. This is about a Yoga day event organized in UP when Uttar Pradesh government cabinet minister Laxmi Narayan created controversy by making a government employee tie his shoelaces!

Minister of minority affairs and dairy development in the Uttar Pradesh government, Laxmi Narayan was attending a yoga event in Shahjahanpur which is about 170 kms from state capital Lucknow. The minister participated in the event, performed yoga and then created controversy when he got ready to leave the event.

As also seen in video footage, a government employee helped the minister in wearing the shoes and tied the shoelaces for him while the minister was standing. Rather than being embarrassed at what he did, Narayan, however, made a shameless justification of the matter by saying, "India was a country where Bharat ruled Lord Ram's kingdom for 14 years with the kharau (wooden slippers) of the latter on the throne. This (the gesture of someone helping him wear his shoes) should be appreciated."

The minister, instead of being ashamed for his deeds, flipped the issue the other way and said that the person should be appreciated for his helpful gesture.

Well, this is not the first time that Laxmi Narayan is making news for wrong reasons. Before this, he had said that Lord Ram had helped India became a global superpower. Narayan said this while participating in the Deepotsav festival. In another incident, Narayan had claimed that Lord Hanuman was a "jat".
