KANPUR: Three passengers were following directions from Google Maps when their car slid into a canal after passing across a portion of road that had been washed out In Uttar Pradesh.
The accident took place on the state highway route between Bareilly and Pilihit.
A man from Auraiya named Divyanshu Singh was involved in the incident. He was riding in a sedan with two other people.
Due to road erosion, the car overturned close to the Kalapur canal by the Barkapur village intersection.
"Our response team arrived at the spot within a few minutes of the accident. Fortunately, no one sustained a major injury. Their car was taken out of the canal with the help of a crane. The victims were on their way to Pilibhit using Google Maps," a police officer said.
The event comes just days after three people lost their lives in a recent mishap in Bareilly on November 24 when their Google Maps-guided car plunged into the Ramganga River from an unfinished flyover.
