Uttar Pradesh: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a UP based engineer of the state irrigation department for allegedly sexually exploiting children and selling videos and photographs of the heinous act on the dark web.

The accused has been identified as Rambhawan and he has been suspended for 'alleged involvement in immoral acts and misconduct'.

Rambhawan has allegedly exploited nearly 50 children between the age of 5 and 16 years over a period of 10 years. The innocent children hail from Chitrakoot, Banda and Hamirpur districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The central probe agency has confiscated about Rs 8 lakh, 8 mobile phones, sex toys, laptop and several digital devices with child abuse content.

RK Gaur, CBI spokesperson said, "Rambhawan used the dark web for the sale, transmission and sharing of the child abuse content with other people".

He further added that the electronic gadgets were used to lure children aged 5-16 years of age and his emails have proved to be a shred of evidence that he was in contact with several others, both Indian and foreign nationals, solely to share child sexual content.

Some officials claim that the accused used gadgets as a bribe to the children to keep them mum while their content was shared on the darknet and other social media platforms for money.

In another case from UP, a 15-year-old rape survivor succumbed to her burn injuries and died.

The girl was pressurised by the uncle of the accused to withdraw her case said Santosh Kumar Singh, SP.

A relative and two friends of the accused have been arrested after the victim's father alleged that they had set her ablaze, however, a video shot at the Bulandshahir government hospital shows the teenager saying that she herself set her on fire due to continuous threats from the family of the accused.
