With the opening of its first dealership in Mumbai, Tesla has finally made its way to India. The 4,000-square-foot facility, which is part of the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) in the center of the city, is the first step in the long-awaited entry of the electric vehicle giant into the Indian market.
It is anticipated that additional locations in large cities, like as New Delhi, will follow this flagship showroom, also known as a Tesla Experience Centre. The action is taken as Tesla seeks to investigate new growth markets in light of declining demand in its current markets.
One of Mumbai's most affluent business districts, BKC, is home to Tesla's showroom. According to reports, the showroom's monthly rent is Rs 35 lakh.
As the American EV manufacturer's first physical presence in India, this will be the company's first experience center. The opening of the showroom is regarded as a calculated step to determine consumer demand and market potential, even though Elon Musk has not yet disclosed plans for a manufacturing or assembly plant in India.
Currently on display in the showroom is Tesla's all-electric SUV, the Model Y. For the launch, six Model Y SUVs have been shipped to Mumbai from Shanghai. Pictures posted on social media depict the last pre-launch details, such as the car being driven into the store on a flatbed truck.
