Woman forest officer mercilessly beat up by Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) workers

Telangana: In a shocking outburst of anger of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) workers in Komram Bheem Asifabad district of Telangana, a much condemnable incident of beating a woman forest officer has happened. The woman forest officer Anita was had gone along with her staff to Sarsala village in Komram Bheem Asifabad district to oversee a tree plantation programme.

The incident of the forest official team’s visit to the village took such a bitter turn that the local TRS MLA Koreru Konappa’s brother Krishna could be seen beating the officer with a stick. Video footage of the incident shows Anita being hit mercilessly by the mob and the MLA brother could be seen even hitting her with a stick on her head. The officer, following the incident, received major injury and was immediately guarded to the hospital for treatment.

As soon as the video footage went viral, the local MLA brother Koneru Krishna Rao was immediately arrested. The accused is also the recently elected vice-chairman of Komaram Bheem Asifabad Zilla Parishad.

Reportedly, the plantation programme ‘Haritha Haaram‘ was underway in Sarasala village in Sirpur Mandal on Sunday and the team of the forest officials had gone to plant saplings on forest land. The locals present at the site did not even consider it necessary to know the purpose of the forest officials visit to the programme and started abusing and assaulting the officials.

The victim of the incident, Anita is a Forest Range Officer and was conducting a planting saplings along with 20 forest department personnel at a site which is identified as a reserve forest land by her. But a group of villagers arrive at the spot and started claiming ownership of the land which deteriorated the incident further.

On being informed by the local villagers, Koneru Krishna Rao arrived at the spot with his supporters and allegedly started attacking the forest staff.

A forest officer said, “Without even considering that the FRO is a woman, the men armed with stick and rods surrounded her and beat her up. The officials had gone there to plant saplings on forest land, it is government’s land.”
