NEW DELHI: According to authorities, a 22-year-old Jhansi woman was allegedly held hostage and sexually assaulted for six days by five people, including a woman, for demanding that she be reimbursed for the treatment of her sick sister in Chhatarpur district.

According to Sachin Sharma, the superintendent of police in Chhatarpur, "The woman had handed 5 lakh to a resident of Chhatarpur who had previously resided in her Jhansi home as a tenant. Recently, the woman requested a refund from the tenant since she needed the money for the care of her sister.

"On December 9, the tenant kidnapped the woman and transported her to Chhatarpur to return the money. There, she was held captive for six days. Four men raped and violently beat the woman while the tenant watched. The renter also harassed her in a sexual manner. The accused warned the victim of dire repercussions. The woman managed to flee on December 15 and make it to Jhansi. She notified the Jhansi police, from whom she was dispatched to Chhatarpur to file the case," the source continued.

The Orchha police have filed an FIR under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 376 (rape), 376D (gang-rape), and 506 (criminal intimidation).

Another incident involved a 35-year-old lady who went outside to use the restroom early on Tuesday morning and was allegedly waylaid and gang-raped by two unknown men.

After she complained of bleeding, the woman's family brought her to the hospital. The woman, a mother of three children, reportedly got out of bed around 5 a.m. and went to a remote area close to her home to relieve herself.

He stated, "She alleged that one suspect caught her by her hand, and another accused raped her," and added that the appropriate police station had reported the incident as a gang rape. She and her children moved into a two-room residence in Jaipur around six months ago, according to sources.
