5G Operations Likely To Be Launched In These Indian Cities Initially

New Delhi: The 5G services are expected to get launched in India shortly in August 2022. as the two prominent telecom companies, Airtel and Reliance Jio are likely to commence the 5G operation later this month.

"The Indian Government will officially launch 5G on September 29 at the inauguration of the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC)", Hindustan Live reported.

As per reports, 5G services will begin in a phase-wise system and 13 cities in India have been selected to receive the fast-moving internet service such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Gandhinagar, Gurugram, Hyderabad, Jamnagar, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune respectively.

A little while back, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi, while addressing the occasion of 76th Independence Day at the Red Fort, announced that 5G would be initiated in India at the earliest.

He also declared that 5G will run 10 times faster than 4G with respect to speed.

Earlier the previous week, the Minister of Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw also commanded all providers of telecom services to prepare for the inauguration of 5G services in India.

He further informed that the spectrum assignment letter had already been issued.

The Chairman of Reliance Jio, Akash M Ambani, on August 1, mentioned in a statement that Jio has committed to providing affordable 5G services that will accelerate the digital revolution of the nation. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel on Wednesday stated that it gave payment of Rs. 8,312.4 crores to the Telecom Department pertaining to the dues for the spectrum obtained in the latest concluded 5G auctions.

While discussing the pre-payment of dues, Bharti Airtel MD and CEO Gopal Vittal stated that the amount of four years paid permits the company to drive 5G roll-out in a collaborative manner.
