Agneepath Scheme: Congress Holds Solidarity 'Satyagrah' At Jantar Mantar

New Delhi: Ever since the central government launched the Agneepath Scheme, protests against it have been going on in several parts of the country.

Several political parties have expressed their solidarity with the youths, who are protesting against the new army recruitment norm. Meanwhile, once the largest opposition in the country, Congress, has too come out in support of protestors as the party's MPs and leaders sat on 'Satyagraha' at Jantar Mantar on Sunday.

Many veteran Congress leaders have joined this Satyagraha and as per Congress, it has taken the decision to conduct satyagraha because the Agneepath scheme has put the youth of the country on the streets.

''The country is burning and the Prime Minister has engaged his PR team to praise the plan. The government should withdraw this scheme,'' said one of the Congress leaders.

Big names from the party are participating in the movement to demand the withdrawal of the 'Agneepath' scheme. These leaders are sitting with Priyanka Gandhi carrying anti-Agneepath placards.

Congress President Sonia Gandhi has too supported the peaceful movement of the students.

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi once again attacked the central government over the agneepath agniveer scheme.

Taking to the micro-blogging site Twitter, he said ''Each and every time by giving false hope of jobs, the Prime Minister has forced the youth of the country to walk on the 'fire path' of unemployment. In 8 years, 16 crore jobs were to be given but the youth only got the knowledge of frying pakoras. Only the Prime Minister is responsible for this condition of the country.''

Reportedly, on Saturday, Sonia Gandhi had written a letter appealing to the youth to adopt a non-violent method to protest.
