Another Army Chopper Crashes in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR: Another helicopter belonging to the Indian Army crashed in the Upper Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh early on Friday morning.

The location of the crash has been reported to be near the Singging village located in the Upper Siang District of the Northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. The crash site is said to be around 25 km away from the Tuting headquarters. The operations are turning out to be almost impossible as the location does not have any road connectivity.

The Rudra that crashed is an indigenous attack helicopter manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the Indian Army. It is the Weapon System Integrated (WSI) Mk-IV variant of the Dhruv Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH). Due to their maneuverability and weapon-carrying capacity, these are often deployed at forward posts of the Indian Army on the international border.

"A military chopper crashed near Singging village, 25 km away from the Tuting headquarters in the Upper Siang district today. The site of the accident was not connected by road, rescue team was sent. Further details awaited," Defence PRO informed.

At the beginning of the month, one Indian Army Colonel was killed and another pilot seriously injured in a similar incident. The Cheetah helicopter they were on crashed near the Tawang town of Arunachal Pradesh during a regular sortie.

Another civilian helicopter crashed recently in Uttarakhand due to bad weather. Six passengers and the pilot died in this crash.
