'Apne CM Ko Thanks Kehna Ki Mein Bhatinga Airport Tak Zinda Laut Paaya', Says PM Modi

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a dig at Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi for "major security lapse."

"Apne CM ko thanks kehna ki mein Bhatinda airport tak zinda laut paaya," PM Modi told officials on his return to Bhatinda airport, according to news agency ANI.

Bharatiya Janata Party president Jagat Prakash Nadda has made a startling revelation by saying that protestors were given access to PM Narendra Modi's routes while the Special Protection Group (SPG) was given assurance of the route being clear.

The BJP President pointed fingers towards Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi by accusing the CM of refusing to get on the phone to address the matter.

He lashed out at the Congress government in Punjab and said that they tried all possible tricks to scuttle programmes.

These attacks comes in the backdrop of PM Modi cancelling his visit to Punjab's Ferozepur as a result of the security breach due to fierce protests.

JP Nadda took to his official Twitter handle to inform about this latest incident.

The Prime Minister landed in Bathinda this morning and was supposed to travel to National Martyrs Memorial at Hussainiwala by helicopter after incessant rain and poor visibility.

"PM waited for about 20 minutes for the weather to clear out. He proceeded to travel by road after necessary confirmation of necessary security arrangements by the DGP Punjab Police," the Ministry of Home Affairs statement read.
