Application for Teacher's Transfer Made Online, Informs Education Minister Ranoj Pegu

GUWAHATI:

Ranoj Pegu, the Education Minister of Assam made a significant announcement regarding the application for teacher's transfer. The Education Minister made it known that from now onwards, the application procedure for the transfer of teachers can be conducted via online mode. The information about this significant build up was announced by Pegu during the current budget session in the Assam Legislative Assembly

"The Assam government has initiated a process to open a portal for the teachers who seek a transfer," informed Education Minister Ranuj Pegu.

This move towards digitalization will make the application process of the transfer of teachers very convenient as it will eliminate the need for the teachers from physically rushing from one office to another to get the simple job done.

On Tuesday, commenting on various issues pertaining to the Education Department, the minister further said that only those teachers who complete 10 years' continuous service in a district could be eligible for transfer.

"We are going to open a portal for the teachers who seek a transfer. The portal will be available within two months. The teachers who have completed 10 years' continuous service in a district could be eligible for transfer. They will be able to apply through the portal for their transfer," However, the Minister said that any a teacher could apply for his or her transfer on medical or security-related grounds," said the minister.

On the other hand, the All Assam High School TET Passed Candidates has requested Education Minister Ranoj Pegu to consider filling up a minimum of 8,000 posts in the secondary schools of Assam.

Talking to The Sentinel, the association's secretary Mujakkir Hussain said, "The Secondary TET in Assam was held on January 19, 2020, and the result was announced on March 4, 2020. A total of 35,814 candidates appeared in the examination, out of which 12,032 candidates were declared as passed. Afterwards, on September 11, 2020, the Secondary Education Department published an advertisement for the appointment of secondary teachers for a total number of 5,746 posts. Out of the advertised posts, 4,190 posts were filled up and the candidates were appointed on February 5, 2021. It can be seen that the number of posts filled up is very less compared to the number of total passed candidates in the secondary TET, Assam, 2020. As a result, as many as 7,842 Secondary TET passed candidates have been unemployed to date."
