The world’s largest Khadi National Flag with a massive size of 150 feet width and 225 feet length will be displayed at the India-Pakistan border during the occasion of Army Day 2022 on 15 January.

The Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises announced that the world's largest national flag made with khadi fabric is going to be displayed in Jaisalmer which is the border area of two countries i.e. India and Pakistan.

The big showcase of the national flag is scheduled for Saturday 15 January during the occasion of Army Day 2022. The khadi-made flag will be displayed at the grand public display ceremony organized on Army Day.

The flag to be presented is regarded as the record-breaking Monumental National Flag with a massive size of 150 feet in width and 225 feet in length.

According to information from the Ministry, the national flag on Saturday will be put on exhibition for the general public at Longewala of Rajasthan. The Longewala location is chosen for the grand view because it was the prime stage of the 1971 historic battle that took place between the two niegbouring countries Pakistan and India.

The Ministry also added that the national flag exhibition on Army Day on Saturday marks the 5th public display as earlier on 2 October last year when it was disclosed for the first time in Leh, Ladakh to celebrate Gandhi Jayanti. And then the public display was continued on 8 October 2021 on Airforce Day at the Hindon Airbase located in Ghaziabad, UP.

For the third time, the Monumental National flag was presented on 21 October 2021 at Red Fort, New Delhi marking the success in completing 100 crore covid vaccinations across the country

However, for the last time, the flag was displayed on Navy Day 2021 i.e. on 4 December 2021 at the Naval Dockyard which is located very close to the Gateway of India, Mumbai.

Notably, it took 49 days by the Khadi artisans for the preparation and completion of the gigantic National flag. In talking about the weight of the flag it is said that the national flag is nearly 1400 kilogram.

The Monumental flag formed approximately 3500 man-hours of extra work and design for the Khadi artisans and allied workers.

In the case of the measurement of Ashoka Chakra in the national flag, the diameter is 30 feet. The flag spreads over 4,500 meters in hand-woven Khadi pure cotton and covers a complete area of 33,750 sq feet.
