As Scindia joins BJP,  Rahul Gandhi  rues over loss; says house was always open for him…

NEW DELHI: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has broken his silence over Jyotiraditya Scindia joining the BJP after leaving Congress. He said that his house was always open for him.

Gandhi also retweeted this old picture of him with Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath and Scindia.

Meanwhile, Yashodhara Raje, an aunt of Jyotiraditya Scindia, welcomed his decision to join the BJP after he quit the Congress, saying it is a courageous step by Scindia.

Belonging to the Maratha clan, BJP leader Yashodhara Raje is the former minister in the Shivraj Singh-led government of Madhya Pradesh. An MLA from Shivpuri, Yashodhara Raje tweeted: “The blood of Rajmata has taken a bold decision in the national interest. We will tread together on the path of progress and will work for a new India. Now the gap between us has been filled. I wholeheartedly welcome Jyotiraditya’s decision to quit Congress.” She said her mother Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia had played a crucial role in establishing the Jan Sangh and the BJP.

Minutes after Jyotiraditya Scindia announced his resignation from the Congress, the grand old party insisted he is being expelled instead. KC Venugopal, general secretary of the Congress, issued a short statement that read,

“Congress president has approved the expulsion of Jyotiraditya Scindia from the Indian National Congress with immediate effect for anti-party activities.” However, this statement comes after Scindia tweeting out his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi dated March 9.

BJP took a sharp dig at the ‘expulsion’ logic by the Congress. BJP’s Amit Malviya asked, “How can you expel a person who has already resigned?”

Earlier, in his resignation to Sonia Gandhi, Scindia cited, “…as you well know, this is a path that has been drawing itself out over the last year,” adding that he is “unable” to “serve” people have been a part of the Congress.
