As a token of gratitude, IDFC First Bank MD and CEO V Vaidyanathan gifted shares worth Rs.30 lakh to his former teacher. The CEO transferred one lakh equity shares worth around Rs 30 lakh without any consideration to his former maths teacher, Gurdial Saroop Saini.

The gift was shared to Saini as a mark of appreciation for helping Vaidyanathan at an early stage of his life.

A Facebook post is going viral on social media telling how Saini lent money to Vaidyanathan to travel for an interview.

''When Vaidyanathan got admission into BITS, Mesra he did not have money to travel there and appear for the college interview and complete the counseling formalities. Saini, his the then maths teacher lent him Rs.500 to travel and appear for the interview. Vaidya completed his education from BITS and did well his professional life,'' said the post.

The post also said that Vaidyanathan searched him to repay but Saini had moved away with his jobs. Years later with the help of a former colleague, he got to know that Saini is in Agra. He then called him up and expressed his gratitude for the timely help.

Earlier this month, the IDFC bank made a regulatory filing with stock exchanges. Vaidya transferred 1,00,000 fully paid-up equity shares to Saini as a gift.

Netizens showered praises on Vaidyanathan's gesture towards his teacher.
