Banks To Remain Close For Four Days In A Row From Tomorrow

Banks in some states of the nation will be closed continuously at a stretch for four days starting tomorrow, according to the RBI. Banks will remain closed in Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Kanpur and Lucknow on Thursday on account of Janmashtami.

New Delhi: The Indian Banks will remain closed continuously for 4 days from tomorrow as the Reserve Bank of India has recently released the holidays scheduled in the month of August across India.

As per the RBI, banks in certain states of the country will remain closed constantly at stretch for four days beginning from tomorrow. Notably, this month has 18 days off some of which occur repeatedly.

Every bank will be closed on the celebration of Janmashtami on August 18, 2022. Banks to be shut in the states of the country the following day, that is, on August 19 2022 are Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Shimla, Shillong, Ranchi, Patna, Jammu, Jaipur, Gangtok, and Chennai.

On the very next day, August 20, 2022, banks, particularly in Hyderabad, will be shut on the occasion of Shri Krishna Ashtami while on August 21 2022 the country will witness a bank holiday across India due to the end of the week on Sunday.

Later, there will also be a bank holiday in Guwahati on August 29 2022 owing to the Tithi of Srimanta Sankaradeva.

On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, banks in many states across India will be shut for the commemoration of Ganesh Chaturthi. The states are Panaji, Nagpur, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bhubaneswar, Bengaluru, Belapur, and Ahmedabad.

Particularly, the list of bank holidays has been allocated into three categories containing the Negotiable Instruments Act, the Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday, and Bank Account Closing.

By way of explanation, there are some holidays fixed for the state purpose as well as for a public holiday established by the federal government of a particular country.

Except for this, there have been seven other weekend days off in the month of August including the Patriot's Day celebration covering all parts of the country.

Banks to remain open in these cities during Janmashtami

Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Imphal, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji and Thiruvananthapuram.
