UTTAR PRADESH: Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the "Bharat Drone Shakti-2023" exhibition at the Hindan Air Base in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, on September 25th. This momentous occasion also witnessed the formal induction of the C-295 transport aircraft into the Indian Air Force, reinforcing the nation's commitment to enhancing its defense capabilities.

The event held at the Hindan Air Base attracted top military officials, including Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, underscoring the importance of the occasion. The Indian Air Force (IAF) collaborated with the Drone Federation of India to host the Bharat Drone Shakti 2023, recognizing the immense potential of domestic drone design and development. Scheduled for September 25th and 26th, this exhibition featured captivating live aerial demonstrations, providing a glimpse into the rapidly evolving world of drone technology.

The use of drones in India has been steadily on the rise, encompassing both military and civilian applications. According to an official press release, drone technology has revolutionized both civil and defense sectors by enhancing efficiency, reducing risk exposure, and augmenting capabilities. The IAF initiated the Meher Baba Swarm Drone competition to leverage India's burgeoning drone technology industry and demonstrate confidence in the nation's drone capabilities. With the Bharat Drone Shakti 2023, the IAF is poised to further harness this expertise.

The event showcased more than 50 live airborne displays, collectively known as "Drone-shakti," highlighting the boundless potential of the Indian drone industry. These demonstrations encompassed a wide array of drone applications, including survey drones, agriculture drones, fire suppression drones, tactical surveillance drones, heavy-lift logistics drones, loitering munition systems, drone swarms, and counter-drone solutions, as detailed in the press release. Notably, the event drew active participation from over 75 drone start-ups and corporate entities, underscoring the vibrant drone ecosystem in India.

"Bharat Drone Shakti 2023" served as a pivotal convergence point for a diverse spectrum of stakeholders. Attendees included representatives from central government agencies, state departments, public and private industries, armed forces, paramilitary forces, friendly foreign countries, academic institutions, students, and drone enthusiasts, as highlighted in the press release.
