PATNA: In another such incident, following the stabbing of 16 year-old Sakshi in Delhi, a jilted lover in Sitamarhi district of Bihar stabbed his former girlfriend at least 12 times, a police official said on Wednesday.

The official added that the victim sustained severe injuries and is battling for her life in a hospital.

The accused youth, identified as Chandan Kumar, has already been arrested and reportedly confessed to committing the crime on Tuesday (May 30).

The police sources revealed that the victim has sustained six stab wounds, including one on her chest, and is currently in a serious condition.

Sitamarhi SP Manoj Kumar Tiwari said, "After committing the crime, the accused was trying to escape but failed. We have arrested him on the charge of attempt to murder. Investigation is underway. We will take strong action against the accused.”

According to the reports, Chandan Kumar confessed before the police that he has been in a relationship with the victim for five years. But, of late, the girl started ignoring him and also refused to marry him when he asked for her hand.

"I got angry and stabbed her multiple times," he said, confessing to his crime.

The victim acknowledged in her brief statement to the police that she was in a relationship with Chandan but was forced to break it off as her parents were not happy with her choice.

She complained, "He also uploaded my private video on social media some six months ago. A panchayat also took place and my parents had lodged an FIR in that matter in Bantaha police station as well.”

Meanwhile, in the ghastly Delhi stabbing case, accused Sahil, who stabbed 16-year-old Sakshi multiple times and bludgeoned her to death on Sunday, has confessed to his crime, sources said. The accused was arrested from Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The accused has also said that he has 'no regrets' over the crime. Police said the girl had 34 wounds on her body.

Notably, none of the bystanders at the scene of the crime made a PCR call and it was a police informer who called the police about the incident. Following the call, a police team was rushed to the spot around 9.30 pm. The accused was produced before a court on Tuesday and has been sent to Police custody for 2 days.
