Guwahati: In a shocking incident reported from Bihar's Buxar, a man chopped off his estranged wife's head using a sharp-edged weapon. The sensational incident took place near Brahmpur Shiv Mandir under the Brahmpur police station area.

According to reports, the couple had drifted apart and were staying separately for 3 years. The matter had even reached the court.

On Friday morning, the man, Algu Yadav, reached the place where his wife was working and proceeded to decapitate her with a 'dao'.

According to reports, locals tried to stop the crazed man from attacking his wife, but it was all in vain. He kept on hitting her until she died.

After killing his wife in this grisly fashion, Algu Yadav ran to the local police station and surrendered before the police.

Apparently, the couple had gotten married in 2013 and have a daughter. Chandni Devi, the man's wife, was a resident of Pakur district in Jharkhand. A few years after the marriage, the couple had disagreements and both started to live separately. Their dispute even reached the court.

Chandni had reportedly started working at a local mall for her upkeep; the woman had demanded maintenance from her husband, who worked as a mason.

The Bihar man was reportedly pressurizing the woman to withdraw the court case and promising to take her back but the woman did not budge.
