Bihar: Nitish Kumar Wins Floor Test Amid BJP Walkout

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar proved the majority of the 'Mahagathbandhan' government as he won the floor test here on Wednesday.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) staged a walkout as the Janata Dal (United) supremo addressed the house. However, Kumar got 160 votes in his favour and zero against him.

During the floor test, CM Nitish and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav attacked the saffron party fiercely, and going a step further Nitish even said that he did not wish to become CM in 2020, but BJP had created pressure for it.

From the very beginning of his address, Nitish continued to attack BJP and said, ''In 2020, we had told BJP to make to someone CM from their party but eventually I was asked to be the CM.''

The Bihar CM also claimed that after leaving the BJP, people from different parties across the country called him and said that it was the right decision to end the alliance with BJP.

Further, Kumar attacked the central government and said that nothing is being done from Delhi apart from publicity.

He also said that BJP conspired to eliminate JDU and cornered all its old leaders. He even said that when Atal Bihari Vajpayee became ill, then Lal Krishna Advani should have got power, but it did not happen.

''Demand for giving the status of Central University to Patna University was also not accepted,'' Kumar alleged.

Recently, Nitish Kumar broke the alliance with BJP and formed the government with Tejashwi Yadav. Apart from the Congress, other smaller parties have also become a part of Nitish-Tejashwi's grand alliance government.

After the formation of the new government, Nitish has now proved his majority after winning the floor test.
