Hyderabad: A bizarre case has surfaced in Hyderabad as police found the body of a 93 year old man inside the refrigerator. According to his grandson, he could not afford the cremation expenses and hence was compelled to take this drastic step.

According to Hyderabad police, the body of a 93-year-old man was kept in a fridge by his 23-year-old grandson as he did not have money to perform his last rites.

Sources within the police further added that, "Police came to search the house after the neighbors complained of a foul smell coming from the house, after which the police found out to decomposed body in the fridge."

Reportedly, the 93 year old victim was retired and was staying with his grandson while the both of them were surviving on the pension that he was receiving.

The sources said, "The accused grandson, Nikhil told police that his grandfather was bedridden and died of ill health recently. After the death, he had initially wrapped the body with a bedsheet and later kept the body in the fridge. He did this as he was unable to perform the last rites due to no money with him."

The police further added that, "Nikhil in his official statement that his grandfather died three days ago and that the body was kept in the fridge since then as he did not have money to cremate him."

According to the police, they are further investigate regarding the matter and find out if the suspect Nikhil had deliberately hid the body to keep continue the flow of monthly pension of his grandfather.

The Hyderabad police confirmed that a case of death pertaining to under suspicious circumstances have already been registered against the accused and the body of the deceased has already been sent for post-mortem procedures.
