BJP appoints Baijayant Panda as Assam's in-charge of BJP

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed BJP national vice president Baijayant Panda as the in-charge of Assam. Panda, who was a former leader of Biju Janata Dal (BJD), joined the ruling party in March 2019. Pawan Sharma has been appointed as the co-in charge of Assam.

Taking it to Twitter, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal congratulated both Panda and Sharma and welcomed them to the state.

"Congratulations to Shri @PandaJay ji and Shri Pawan Sharma ji on being given the role of @BJP4India Prabhari & Seh-Prabhari for Assam. Your appointments will greatly enthuse the karyakartas in the state. My best wishes and warmest welcome," Sonowal tweeted.

Writing on the occasion, Assam Finance, Health, Education and PWD Minister, Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that he looks forward to working closely with them to strengthen BJP Assam. He wrote:

"Compliments to Sri @PandaJay on being appointed as Prabhari (Incharge) of #Assam and Shri Pawan Sharma as Seh Prabahri (Co-Incharge). We look forward to working closely with you to continue to strengthen @BJP4Assam as per vision of PM Shri @narendramodi."

One of the official spokesperson of BJP, Sambit Patra has been appointed as the in-charge of Manipur. Patra is an Indian politician and a general surgeon.

BJP Manipur tweeted: "@sambitswaraj Ji, National Spokesperson @BJP4India, is being appointed as the new Prabhari of BJP Manipur Pradesh. Heartiest Congratulations & Welcome to Manipur. We are lucky to have a Good leader like you as a Prabhari of @BJP4Manipur."
