Lucknow: The Bharatiya Janata Party has sealed its alliance for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly Elections 2022 on January 19.

BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda, while addressing a press conference, has confirmed that the Saffron party will contest the polls in alliance with Apna Dal and Nishad Party.

JP Nadda said in a statement that the BJP, Apna Dal and Nishad Party will jointly contest polls on 403 seats in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls.

This decision comes in the backdrop of the BJP announcing their decision to field Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath from the Gorakhpur assembly constituency.

The ruling party in UP took to their official Twitter handle to share this news.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted that a meeting was held to finalize the alliance. A lot of prominent political figures attended this meeting which included the likes of CM Yogi, JP Nadda, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Anupriya S Patel and Sanjay Nishad.

The political slugfest in UP has intensified in the recent days with political parties conducting massive rallies to appeal to the masses.

The Samajwadi Party, led by former CM Akhilesh Yadav has stitched a coalition of small regional parties and will be hoping to dethrone the BJP, who rules UP with an iron fist.

The UP polls will be held in seven phases from 10 February to 7 March. The polling will be conducted on February 10,14,20,23,27 and March 3 and 7 respectively. The results will be declared on 10 March.
