MUMBAI: Bollywood star Akshay Kumar's mother Aruna Bhatia passed away at a hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday.
Aruna, who had been suffering from health issues for the last many days, was admitted at Hiranandani hospital in Mumbai on September 3 in a critical condition. However, she could not survive very long and breathed her last on Wednesday (September 8) morning. Akshay, who was outside the country for shooting a film Cinderella, cut his trip short and rushed back to India to be with his mother.
The 54-year-old actor shared the news on Twitter on Wednesday morning. His post read - "She was my core. And today I feel an unbearable pain at the very core of my existence. My maa Smt Aruna Bhatia peacefully left this world today morning and got reunited with my dad in the other world. I respect your prayers as I and my family go through this period. Om Shanti."
On Tuesday, Akshay Kumar wrote about his mother's health in an Instagram post. "Touched beyond words at your concern for my mom's health. This is a very tough hour for me and my family. Every single prayer of yours would greatly help," read his post.

It may be mentioned that Aruna passed away a day before her son Akshay's birthday, which is on September 9.
