Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan to be Alexa's first Indian celebrity voice

Guwahati: Fans of Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan are in for a trear the actor's inimitable voice will soon be booming from Amazon's Alexa. The company has announced a partnership with the star which will see him become the first Indian celebrity voice on the digital assistant.

Bachchan's name has been added alongside the name of Hollywood stalwarts such as Samuel L. Jackson, who became the first ever celebrity voice for Alexa in September last year. Jackson's Alexa voice, however, is available only in English.

Bachchan's signature voice will be heard in Alexa and shall be limited to India only and in Hindi.

The superstar's voice will now be available for Alexa users who can will now be able to purchase the 'Amitabh Bachchan voice experience'. One who wishes to hear the Big-B's voice, shall have to pay a certain amount of money. The payment details, however, are yet to be revealed by Amazon.

This new feature is likely to be available from 2021 onwards, and commenting on it, Bachchan said, "With voice technology, we are building something to engage more effectively with my audience and well-wishers."

Stating that technology has always given him an opportunity to adapt to new forms, be it in movies, TV shows, podcasts and now, he is excited to create this voice experience in partnership with Amazon and Alexa.

"Mr Bachchan's voice is truly memorable for any Indian who has grown-up with Bollywood. This combination delivers a perfect pitch to further delight and simplify the lives of our customers," Puneesh Kumar, Country Leader for Alexa of Amazon India, said.

It has been reported that the Amazon Alexa team is closely with Bachchan to capture his voice to deliver a unique voice experience to customers. In his inimitable voice, the senior Bachchan will make popular offerings like jokes, weather, shayaris, motivational quotes, advice, and more.

After the experience is official next year, customers will be able to invoke the Amitabh Bachchan voice experience by simply asking Alexa.

Alexa is currently available on various platforms including Echo, Fire TV Stick with Alexa Voice Remote, Fire TV Edition, Alexa app, Amazon shopping app for Android and several third-party devices that come with Alexa built-in capability.
