NEW DELHI: Bulldozers swung into action against the self-proclaimed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shrikant Tyagi, who has been accused of outraging a woman's modesty during an argument over the plantation of palm trees near his apartment at Noida Grand Omaxe society.

Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway to nab Tyagi, who is on run. While the BJP has distanced itself from Tyagi, the latter's social media accounts tell a different tale.

A spat broke out between Tyagi and a woman at the Grand Omaxe Society in Sector-93 B in Noida a few days ago.

The matter came to light on Friday multiple videos of the ugly spate surfaced on social media, purportedly showing Tyagi hurling expletives and assaulting the woman.

He also hurled abusive words at her husband and made derogatory remarks about her. Social media users also shared the response of the victim woman in which she narrated the entire incident.

Days after the incident, Tyagi's supporters turned up at the housing complex on Sunday, shouted slogans and asked for the woman's address.

Additional DCP (Women Safety) Ankita Sharma said that Tyagi had been booked under Indian Penal Code Section 354 (assault or use of criminal force on any woman, intending to outrage or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby outrage her modesty).
