Congress Leader Jaiveer Shergill Resigns As Party Spokesperson

New Delhi: Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill on Wednesday resigned from the post of a national spokesperson of the party.

Shergill, in his resignation letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, said the vision of the decision-makers no longer is in sync with the aspirations of the youth.

He further alleged that self-serving interests were gaining precedence while public and national interests were being ignored.

"The primary reason being that the ideology and the vision of the current decision-makers of the Indian National Congress are no longer in sync with the aspirations of the youth and modern India," the letter read further.

"Furthermore, it pains me to say that decision-making is no longer in the interest of the public and the country. Rather it is influenced by the self-serving interests of individuals indulging in sycophancy and consistently ignoring on-ground reality. This is something I cannot morally accept or continue to work with," he added.

As per reports, it is being said that Shergill was angry with the Congress party for a long time. He was also not allowed by the party to hold a press conference for some time.

Eventually, he decided to resign from the post of spokesperson for the Congress party.

It is worth mentioning that Shergill, a lawyer by profession, practices in the Supreme Court and he came into the limelight when he launched a 24-hour legal toll-free helpline number to provide legal help to Congress workers facing legal issues.

Notably, these days it seems that nothing is going well in Congress in recent times many other leaders have also resigned from the party.

Recently, the Congress appointed former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad as the head of the campaign committee, but he turned down the party's offer.
