NEW DELHI: A Congress leader who tested positive for COVID-19 has been booked for hiding his travel history. He had attended the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in Delhi. His village in Deenpur, Najafgarh has now been declared a containment zone.

The man's wife and child have also tested positive.

Meanwhile, the Assam Police has appealed to those who either attended the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz in West Delhi or visited a State or country affected by COVID-19, to immediately report at the nearest hospital or Primary Health Centre (PHC) by 6 am on Tuesday (April 7). Such persons can also call Helpline No.104 for informing the authorities of their presence and condition.

“If such persons deliberately fail to present themselves by the given deadline, 6am on April 7, 2020 or inform the authorities, strict legal action will be taken against the individuals concerned, their shelters or those having knowledge of such travel history have hidden it, under relevant provisions of IPC & Disaster Management Act 2005,” a press release issued by the Assam Police Headquarters stated.
