Congress leaders not ready to work under anyone except Rahul Gandhi: Leaders want him back

With the Congress party functioning without a president since the resignation of Rahul Gandhi, the time has come that the party has decided to name its new chief. The consultations for the selection of new chief have ended with five different zonal groups and these consultations include the leaders from different states.

What is more interesting is that the consultations have come up with Rahul Gandhi being the most suited name to lead the party.

Reliable sources at the Congress headquarters at 24 Akbar Road in Delhi have hinted the consultations comprised of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Sunil Jakhar and former Gurdaspur MP Pratap Singh Bajwa and others have insisted at re-selecting Rahul Gandhi or the presidentship. The consultations are of this opinion that the absence of Rahul from the party has made many people leave the party and many more will leave if Rahul does not cancel his decision of quitting party presidentship.

The Punjab leaders have however added that “it wasn’t Rahul’s fault if he was born in a family that had sacrificed so much.”

At the same time, the Punjab leaders have stressed that they will not work under anyone except Rahul Gandhi.

Apart from the suggestion of Rahul’s name, some other names too have appeared as the probable chief of the party and these include Mallikarjun Kharge, the veteran Karnataka leader. Some of the Congress leaders have even requested Priyanka Gandhi as well to convince Rahul to come back and accept his previous position.

Considering the adamant decision of Rahul Gandhi to not to take the position of president, Rajya Sabha MP BK Hariprasad has added that if he stays firm in his decision then another leader with 10-15 years of experience could be considered as a replacement. thus, the Southern group leaders are of the opinion that experience matters
