Congress Leaders paid tribute to Indira Gandhi on her 35th Death Anniversary

Former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her 35th death anniversary paid homage by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah. PM wrote in social media sites, “A humble tribute to the former Prime Minister of the country, Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary.”

Amit Shah also paid tribute to late PM while flagging off the ‘Run for Unity ‘marathon on Rashtriya Ekta Divas at Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.

However, Congress leaders also paid floral tributes to late Indira Gandhi at a remembrance ceremony at Shakti Sthal. The Congress leaders include Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former President of India Pranab Mukherjee, former vice-president Hamid Ansari, former PM Manmohan Singh and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot who also remembered the late PM’s contribution to national security, economy, and foreign policy.

At the ceremony MPs from the party and a large number of the party, workers were also present.

Chairman of the Delhi Congress campaign committee Kirti Azad and Delhi Congress Chief Subhash Chopra also paid tributes.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also paid tribute to former PM in a tweet.

Indira Gandhi is the first and only woman Prime Minister of India from January 1966 to March 1977 and again from January 1980 until her assassination in October 1984. On 31st October 1984, she was assassinated by her own Sikh bodyguards at her residence in Akbar Road.

Jairam Ramesh-Senior party leader tweeted that Former PM Indira Gandhi is the Iron Lady of India. On 31st October, a day of celebration for the Iron Man of India – Sardar Patel’s birthday and a day of anguish for the Iron Lady of India-Indira Gandhi’s assassination. It has a huge impact on India’s history and our geography as well.
