Congress To Hold Nation Wide Protest From Nov 14 Against High Fuel Price

New Delhi: The All India Congress is going to launch a country wide protest from November 14 against the abnormal rise of fuel.

Speaking to reporters, AICC General Secretary K C Venugopal said that the massive protest against the high fuel price will start from November 14 and would continue till November 29.

Sunday was the fifth consecutive day that saw a rise in petrol and diesel prices across the country. Petrol prices stood at ₹ 107.59 per litre in Delhi while diesel was ₹ 96.32 a litre, as on Sunday. Petrol and diesel prices in Mumbai stood at ₹113.12 and ₹ 104 a litre respectively.

Petrol prices in Assam's Kamrup Metro district stood at ₹103.23 per litre on Sunday, up by ₹0.36 while diesel prices stood at ₹95.76, up by ₹0.37. Notably, petrol prices were highest in Assam's Lakhimpur, at ₹106.47 a litre and lowest in Chirang at ₹103.18 a litre.

Senior leader of Congress P. Chidambaram has strongly criticized the BJP government for high price of fuel.

He demanded to the government to reduce the taxes which was suggested by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).

"It's only the greed of the government which has given rise to petrol and diesel prices. That is why the RBI says pump prices deserve lower taxation. RBI is repeatedly telling the government that pump prices must be reduced".
