Coronavirus: Government likely to extend Lockdown by two weeks till April 30

Delhi: In view of the rapid deterioration of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in the country, the Union Government is likely to extend the on-going lockdown by two weeks till April 30. However, the Government is yet to take a final decision in the regard. Earlier on today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a video conferencing meeting with all the states and UTs’ Chief Ministers. As per reports, during the discussion, the Prime Minister has agreed to extend the lockdown, which is to end on April 14 as per the earlier announcement by him, by two weeks. Several Chief Ministers have been demanding of extension of the lockdown. As per the Union Health Ministry's latest data, more than 240 people died from the pandemic and more than six thousand have tested positive for the deadly virus, so far.
