COVID-19: 400 million people in India may be infected by July 2020, new study says

New Delhi : Be careful! Only your alertness and awareness will save the second populous country in the world! A recent report suggested that corona positive patients in the country may increase to 40 crore or 400 million by July 2020 as community transmission of the deadly virus has started. Community transmission is a very dangerous thing with regard to his pandemic, opined several Health experts across the world. Of late, the John Hopkins University in the USA and a Health-related research organisation known as Center for Diseases Dynamics, Economic and Policy (CDDEP) have done a study on the spread of the novel coronavirus in India. The study has revealed that the number of coronavirus positive case may soar to 400 million by July this year. Therefore, everyone has to follow the guidelines issued by the Government of India and respective state government. Pointing out the 21-day-long complete lock-down announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to break the chain of the dreaded virus, this study has said, “A national lockdown is not productive and could cause serious economic damage, increase hunger and reduce the population resilience for handling the infection peak. Some states may see transmission increase only after another 2 weeks and lockdowns should be optimized for when they could maximize the effect on the epidemic but minimize economic damage”. Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus positive cases in the country spiked to more than 700 hundred till today. Moreover, around 17 people died in the pandemic so far. Mentionable is that a Joint Secretary of the Union Health Ministry, on March 27 claimed that there was no single evidence of community transmission of the deadly virus in India.
