Guwahati: Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) which functions under the Northeast Frontier Railway has announced to introduce of two new Joyride trains for tourists between Darjeeling and Ghum stations, a UNESCO World Heritage site.

The services are said to be provided between Darjeeling and Ghum stations running daily on a round trip and will be commencing from June 30th of this year.

The rail services will have 3 first class chair car coaches and it would be driven by diesel locomotives.

"In view of the rise in the flow of tourists during peak season, Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR) of Northeast Frontier Railway has decided to introduce two (02) new special Joyride trains for tourists to have an experience of riding joyride services which are in a UNESCO World Heritage site,'' an official statement said.

Trains 02550 Darjeeling- Ghum- Darjeeling and 02549 Darjeeling- Ghum- Darjeeling would be available for the tourists to board.

The 02550 train is said to depart from Darjeeling at 09:40 hours and will reach Ghum in 10:20 hours. Again the train would depart from Ghum at 10:45 hours and arrive in Darjeeling at 11:22 hours.

On the other hand, the train, 02549 will depart from Darjeeling at 16:05 hours and reach Ghum at 16:45 hours. Similarly, the return trip has been scheduled at 17:15 hours from Ghum to Darjeeling at 17:45 hours.

The railway authority has wished for a memorable and comfortable train service for the tourists so that they could plan their journey and visit the DHR for a spectacle and lavish refreshing views of the beautiful landscapes present in the Himalayas.
