Guwahati: Delhi gets ready to woo its tourists with some amazing attractions as it has set up a park containing the replicas of the Seven Wonders of the World right at one place. The park is to be lighted up solely through the use of solar energy and the South Delhi Municipal Corporation has gone for uniting wind and solar power so that the power demands of the Wonders of the World Park could be met. The park is set up near Sarai Kale Khan bus terminal in south-east Delhi.
If you are one who has not managed to go for a visit to the Seven Wonders of the World then perhaps nothing can be as golden a chance as this wherein you will get to see all the iconic wonders within a distance a few walks. Right from the replica of the Taj Mahal, Great Pyramid of Giza, Eiffel Tower, Leaning Tower of Pisa and Christ the Redeemer statue of Rio de Janeiro, Rome’s Colosseum to the Statue of Liberty, there is everything that a true admirer of the wonderful things on earth craves for. The good news is that the park will be opened for the visitors in the second week of February.
Other than the beauty of the park, there is a lot more to know about it. The most attractive factor is that the replicas in the park are fabricated by scrap automobile parts. Alok Kumar, director, horticulture department, SDMC said, “We have already given them a finished look and installed old sodium lights to highlight their features. Now work on landscaping and laying the pathways is in progress. Once these tasks are done, we will focus on installing beautiful lights all over the park.”
In order to derive solar energy, three solar trees are installed in the park and each of these trees will generate up to six kilowatts of power. Plans are also there to install a wind turbine. The solar trees are capable of tracking the sun and has a capacity of delivering up to 40% improved solar power.
SDMC commissioner Puneet Goel said, “We have also installed solar panels on the roof of the washroom constructed out of an old shipping container.”
