SONIPAT: A shocking bomb threat call was received on Friday at around 9 pm on the Delhi-Jammu Tawi Rajdhani Express, causing panic among passengers and authorities. The train was immediately stopped at 9:35 pm in Haryana's Sonipat for a thorough inspection, as passenger safety remained the utmost priority.

Amid the heightened situation, a team of experts, including the bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs from Rohtak, along with the police, rushed to the site. The Northern Railways acted promptly, deploying additional resources such as an ambulance, fire brigade, Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), and railway officers to ensure the safety and security of all passengers on board.

The first team of experts reached the Sonipat station at 11:40 pm, and another team was en route to provide further assistance. A comprehensive search and investigation of the entire train were conducted meticulously. Despite the intense scrutiny, the preliminary probe yielded no suspicious findings, bringing some relief to both the passengers and authorities.

During the inspection process, several passengers expressed their frustrations on social media platforms, particularly Twitter, voicing their concerns over the lack of communication from railway officials during the two-hour halt at Sonipat station.

Sonipat station, being part of the Delhi division, acted swiftly in handling the situation, ensuring the safety and well-being of the passengers. The Delhi-Jammu Rajdhani Express, which typically departs from New Delhi railway station at 8:40 pm and halts at Ludhiana before reaching Jammu at 5 am on regular days, faced an unprecedented delay due to the bomb threat inspection that extended until 2 am.

The bomb threat turned out to be a hoax, allowing the authorities to finally give the all-clear signal for the train to resume its journey. At 2 am, after a delay of five hours, the Delhi-Jammu Rajdhani Express departed from Sonipat station, with Pathankot as its next destination. The train is now expected to reach Pathankot by 8:15 am, well behind its original schedule.
