Guwahati: Amid the rising Covid-19 cases in the country's capital Delhi, there is Tabrej Khan who has emerged as an unlikely hero in these difficult times.

Tabrej, who hails from Delhi's Jahangirpuri, has geared up to donate his plasma for the seventh time in a row.

"Each time I donate, I get an update from the hospital or the family that the patient has recovered and that they are grateful… Till now, I've donated plasma six times, helping 12 people," an ecstatic Tabrej told mediapersons.

Tabrej says he wants to be a role model for others to come forward and save lives and says is God's will for making him want to do this.

Notably, it has been over 14 days since Khan's last plasma donation. He is now waiting for a response from Lok Nayak Hospital, where a plasma bank — the second in the capital — was set up earlier this month, to donate again.

A resident of Jahangirpuri, Tabrez tested positive for coronavirus back in March after coming in contact with his sister with travel history. He recovered from the infection on April 5. Soon afterwards, he became the first plasma donor in the state.

On April 20, Khan first donated his plasma at ILBS. After that, whenever people have approached him for plasma to treat serious Covid patients and matched with his blood group, he hasn't hesitated to donate. "Just a few days ago, a family approached me for a senior person whose condition was very critical."

"I donated plasma and his condition is better now, his life is saved. The patient's family hugged me and cried. I could relate to their emotion… their blessings are all that I need," he added.

In several cases, Khan was aware of the names of the people he was donating plasma to — the last patient he donated to was 60 years old. He stated that the man's son kept in touch and wanted to invite him over to thank him.

It is to be mentioned that Khan has donated twice at ILBS, once at Max, twice at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and once at Shree Aggarsain International Hospital in Rohini.
