Delhi policemen caught for taking bribe from drug peddler

New Delhi: Four Delhi policemen, including two sub-inspectors, have been suspended for allegedly taking a bribe from a drug peddler who was appreheded with some 160 kg of cannabis.

As per reports, the cops nabbed about 160 kilograms of marijuana from a room in Jahangirpuri B-block on September 11 from a man identified as Anil.

Anil who had procured the weed from Odisha was allowed to go scot-free by the policemen after taking a bribe from him.

The four policemen from Jahangirpuri police station said that the seized quantity of marijuana was almost 1 kg and sold the remaining psychoactive drug.

When the matter came to fore, Anil was questioned and he revealed the names of the cops who were involved in the raid.

Following this development, an investigation was launched and the four cops have been suspended.

Deputy commissioner of Northwest police, Vijayanta Arya, said the inquiry is being conducted by the ACP (Operations) and the two sub-inspectors and the two head constables have been placed under suspension.

The official reports stated that the four cops allegedly took Rs 1.5 lakh from Anil to hush up the matter and sold the remaining marijuana and divided the money among themselves.
