NEW DELHI: After a small relief for a few days, the temperatures in North India are being predicted to dip way further than previous records in the coming days. Temperatures of up to -4 degrees Celsius have been predicted in the coming days.

As per the warning, the temperature is expected to dip between January 14 and January 19 with the lowest between January 16 and January 18. This will be much below the usual low temperatures in the region and may reach as low as -4 degrees. This warning came from the founder of Live Weather of India, which is a weather monitoring platform in the country. Navdeep Dahiya made this claim over the microblogging site Twitter.

These predictions also match the reports given by the Indian Meteorological Department. The showers had given some respite to the icy winds and chilling temperatures, but they can also make the condition worse. It mentioned the possibility of severe cold wave conditions in isolated regions of Delhi as well as the neighbouring states from the coming Saturday.

And while light rainfall in the national capital might bring some respite from icy temperatures for a few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also said cold wave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets over Delhi and its neighbouring states from Saturday.

There are warning of severe fog with the maximum temperatures in single digits." Frosty mornings" and "cold blast" days have been predicted in the tweet.

The Indian Meteorological Department had previously predicted a temporary relief for the residents of Northwest India this week after the severe cold in the last few days. An active western disturbance was expected to trigger a 2-4 degrees Celsius rise in minimum temperatures over the north-western plains till Friday. But it also warned of another round of icy chill in the National Capital Region after that.

A few days back the national capital recorded the coldest temperatures in 23 years but it increased slightly this week.
