Kolkata: The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 16.15 kg of heroin worth around Rs 113 crore from three African passengers, including two women, at the Kolkata airport.

According to reports, acting on a specific intelligence input, the DRI intercepted three persons - a male and a female from Kenya and a female passenger from Malawi.

During the frisking of four trolley bags, 14 packets filled with the brown powdery substance were found which were found.

As per a DRI official, the said substance turned out to be heroin.

Notably, two of these three passengers had come on a medical visa while one had come to India on a business visa.

The trio has been sent to judicial custody and further investigation into the matter is underway.
