In this regard, the Enforcement Directorate took Malik who is also a minister of Minority Development and Aukaf of Maharashtra, to their office Wednesday morning for interrogation.

As per reports, Malik was questioned over alleged transactions with the associates of gangster Dawood to which according to ED, the minister tried to avoid responding and denied cooperating.

After the questioning by the ED officials for hours the 62 years old Minister Malik was arrested later.

Malik was then taken inside a vehicle by the officials for a medical check-up.

The investigating agency summoned the Minister to its office for recording the statement by him under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The arrest of Malik comes after the ED officials filed a fresh case and raids were carried out in Mumbai city in relation to the underworld activities.

The central inquiry agency had then conducted several raids in more than ten different locations in the city that includes the areas having link with Dawood Ibrahim's late sister Haseena Parkar, brother Iqbal Kaskar and Salim Qureshi alias Salim Fruit, brother-in-law of gangster Chhota Shakeel.
