The Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi is widely celebrated as the birthday of the Islamic Prophet Mohammad, the founder as leader of the Islam religion. The Muslims from all over the globe observed the glorious day with great significance and believes in the month of the third lunar calendar of the Muslims.

This year the date for celebrating this auspicious day of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi is 19 October, Tuesday. Milad-un-Nabi is also called as Eid-e-Milad in different regions of the world and it is very significant that the day is also remembered as the death anniversary of the Prophet.

People have the faith that Prophet Mohammad was born in the place Mecca to Abdullah and Bibi Amina on the 12th day of the third month of the Islamic calendar known in Arabic as Rabee-ul-Awwal. Both Sunni and Shia denominations of Islam are sometimes observed this day on separate dates. It is accepted by many scholars from both Sunni and Shia but a number of scholars and believers from the Shia community consider the 17th day of the third month of the Islamic calendar as Rabee-ul-Awwal, they believe that Prophet was born on the 17th of Rabee-ul-Awwal. The Islamic community of Shia believes that on this particular day Prophet Mohammad made the choice of his successor as Hazrat Ali.

According to many legends of Islam, the one person who had for the first time celebrated the birthday of Prophet Mohammad was a Muslim ruler named Muzaffar al-Din Gokbori. It was then in the year 1588 announced by Ottomans as an official holiday with the name Mevlid Kandil. Prophet Mohammad has been an inspiration for many as his life and principles of life depicted in Islamic sayings the Hadith continues to motivate and influence people.

People celebrate the day of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi by following large processions across their areas, holding prayers for the whole night and even decorates their homes beautifully. The Sunni community of Islam throughout the day also organizes several meetings of prayers in mosques and other places. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on this day greets the people through his tweet as "Milad-Un-Nabi greetings. Let there be peace and prosperity all around. May the virtues of kindness and brotherhood always prevail, Eid Mubarak".
