Excise Department Imposes Rs 25,000 Fine On Hotel For Overcharging Actor Rahul Bose

A fine of Rs 25,000 has been imposed on hotel JW Marriott here by the Excise and Taxation Department of the Union Territory for over-charging from Bollywood actor Rahul Bose for fruits served to him in the hotel.

Actor Rahul Bose, while staying in a Chandigarh five-star, was charged exorbitantly for serving two bananas and the actor did not waste much time in bringing the issue into the notice of the public with the help of social media.

As stated by the actor, he had bought two bananas in the five-star hotel’s gym and the charge he had to pay for the bananas was Rs 442.50 which is beyond any reasoning. Sharing the image of the two bananas and mentioning the incident, Rahul wrote, “You have to see this to believe it. Who said fruit wasn’t harmful to your existence? Ask the wonderful folks at @JWMarriottChd #goingbananas #howtogetfitandgobroke #potassiumforkings.”

The five-star hotel Rahul Bose was staying for a shooing in Chandigarh was JW Marriott and as stated by the actor, the bill for the bananas also includes the GST. What is funnier is the name the hotel used for the bananas. The hotel staff has listed the bananas as ‘Fruit Platter’. After paying such exorbitant price for them, Rahul terms the bananas as “just too good for me”.

As soon as the post went on Twitter, users came out to make funny comments on the hotel and its overpricing bill. For some, the bill was “just bananas”, for others the hotel was “cheating their customers”. Another user commented, “It's not just banana..its called ullu Banana.” (making fool).

Another user raised another important issue in his tweet “We feel the same when we buy popcorn in Multiplex”. this certainly is another issue in the multiplexes that charge unreasonable prices on a handful of popcorns which often makes it difficult for the moviegoers to afford something to munch in the theatre.
