Father Forced To Carry Dead Son's Body On Motorcycle, After Ambulance Operators Declined

Tirupati: In an unfortunate incident, a father was compelled to carry the body of his son on a motorcycle to his village, which is located 90 km away from Tirupati.

The incident unravelled when the private ambulance operators in SVR Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati declined to deduct the price of hiring an ambulance in the wee hours of April 26.

What is more saddening is the fact that the private ambulance operators refused to allow a free ambulance which was arranged by the villagers. The grieving father, with no other options left, was forced to carry his son in his hands on a motorcycle.

This incident led to turmoil in the temple town and the district authorities have ordered an inquiry. Six private ambulance operators who were responsible for the incident were reportedly taken into custody.

The deceased has been identified as Jeseva, who hailed from Chitvel in the Annamaiah district. He was suffering from kidney-related ailments and was admitted to S V R Ruia Government General Hospital in Tirupati.

He passed away in the late hours of April 25. His father tried to arrange an ambulance for shifting him to their native village. However, the ambulance drivers allegedly demanded a hefty amount which he could not pay. As a result, he informed about the situation to his relatives.

Srikanth Yadav, who is a resident of Chitvel, had managed to arrange an ambulance which agreed to shift the body for free of cost. But, private ambulance operators at the hospital, who formed a syndicate, came in their way and did not let the other ambulance from entering the hospital and instead chased it away.

The syndicate insisted that the body has to be shifted in their ambulance. Jeseva's father carried his son's dead body on the motorcycle with the help of his relative.

Meanwhile, Tirupati MP Maddila Gurumoorthy has asked the district collector to inquire about the issue and take strict action against those who are responsible for the incident. RDO officials visited the hospital and launched an inquiry following the collector's directions.
