Wasim Rizvi, the former chairman of the Shia Waqf Board, has been charged with rape after a lady whose husband used to work for him filed a complaint. On Thursday, the case was filed at a police station in Lucknow. Rizvi has been charged with rape, 323 (voluntarily inflicting harm), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 392 of the Indian Penal Code (robbery).

Brijesh Kumar Yadav, SHO of the relevant police station, told The Indian Express on Thursday evening that the case was registered on the direction of Lucknow Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate AK Srivastava.

"She had moved court which, on Tuesday, ordered an FIR be filed," the SHO stated.

The victim and her husband along with their children used to live in a accommodation provided by Rizvi as the victim's husband used to work under him.

Ritvi raped the victim around five months ago when her husband was out of town, according to the victim. Rizvi knocked on her home under the guise of wanting to discuss something essential. He stormed into her home as soon as she opened the door and began misbehaving with her. Despite the victim's resistance, Rizvi allegedly shoved her into her bed and raped her.

Rizvi also allegedly took obscene photographs of her in order to blackmail her by threatening to make them public if she ever reported this to anybody.

Rizvi even threatened to murder her and her children if she told anybody about the event, according to the woman.

She said that following the event, Rizvi would routinely send her husband away on business and rape her in his absence.

The woman further claimed that Rizvi warned her she wouldn't be able to take action against him since he had contacts with senior officers. She also informed her husband, who was imprisoned and assaulted Rizvi upon confrontation.   Rizvi seized the victim's husband's phone, driver's licence, and wallet, according to the woman.
